The Democratic Nominee for president, Joe Biden a former Vice President under Barack Obama has chosen Senator Kamal Harris to be his Vice Presidential running mate for the 2020 election. This pick is an interesting pick because Kamala Harris went directly after Joe Biden during the presidential debates even referring to him as a racist for supporting Bush amongst other things.
I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate.— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) August 11, 2020
Joe Biden was under pressure from several black leaders saying that if he did not select a black woman as his running mate, they wouldn’t support him. Joe Biden himself had already committed to select a woman of color as his running mate months ago after the death of George Floyd.
Biden is up in the polls. We will see soon how his Vice Presidential pick increases his support with less than 3 months until the Presidential election. The Mayor of Atlanta who was in the running has already congratulated her amongst others.
Vice President Pence and Kamala Harris are scheduled to debate each other Oct. 7 in Utah, per previously announced schedule. The Trump campaign is out with a statement hitting Harris, calling her “Phony Kamala.”— Kaitlan Collins (@kaitlancollins) August 11, 2020
